XP_CRYPT Installation Procedure Installation of XP_CRYPT for MSSQL is quite easy and intuitive. All you need is start install.exe, fill in server and login credentials and all will be done automatically! Read the license agreement and make your choice. If you install XP_CRYPT at the server, then you need to have "Server side application" checked. Client side application includes GUI tool and help file. Choose SQL Server name from the drop down list or type in a new one, if this server was not detected. Choose an authorization type and fill in login with password if it's needed. Please note that starting from version 3.6.2 you can install XP_CRYPT on the remote server. However such type of installation is not supported directly by SQL Server. This method requires xp_readkey and xp_cmdshell to be available in the server. Those functions are usually available after default installation. Some administrators prefer to remove them. If you start the installation program directly at the server machine do not choose "Remote installation" option. Installation complete ! Now you can use XP_CRYPT functions in your T-SQL scripts ! If you purchased XP_CRYPT you can activate the copy with your serial number. Installation is complete!
